MedFusion Announces Partnership With Cielo MedSolutions

Two rapidly-growing providers of web-based healthcare software enter into a partnership to offer value-added technology to physician practices

Cary, NC - August 10, 2009 - Medfusion, the leader in patient-to-provider online communication solutions has entered into a partnership with Cielo MedSolutions LLC, a leading provider of disease management software for ambulatory care providers.

Cielo MedSolutions has selected Medfusion's patient portal secure messaging feature for Cielo's disease management patient registry to notify patients they are due to schedule a preventive or disease management appointment, or to follow-up on an ordered test or procedure. David Morin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cielo commented, "Medfusion's patient portal solution will allow us to equip providers with patient-to-provider technology that will enable them to increase office efficiencies. Staff will no longer need to manually send disease management reminders to patients via mail or by placing a phone call. This technology is invaluable to the transformation of any practice."

Both Medfusion and Cielo's web-based technologies enable providers to achieve standards of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiative. Dan McKean, Business Development Manager of TransforMED, medical home consultants, weighed in about this partnership saying, "Medfusion and Cielo's partnership is a positive step in supporting the basic technology tenets of the Patient-Centered Medical Home. By combining Cielo's registry functionality with Medfusion's patient outreach solution, practices have the potential of becoming high performing patient-centered practices."

A recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed that 50 percent of consumers surveyed said they'd be willing to seek healthcare through the Internet or other computer technology. Steve Malik, Medfusion's Chief Executive Officer commented, "Our partnership with Cielo will enable them to provide the communication platform patients are seeking. We are excited to collaborate with Cielo to offer this fundamental type of patient-to-provider communication that ultimately benefits care quality and office efficiencies."

Cielo plans to further enhance their patient portal offerings in the future with other solutions like Pre-Registration, Referral Management, and Personal Health Records.
