SOFTWARE INDUSTRY VETERANS LAUNCH HEALTHCARE IT VENTURE
New Company Developing Software for Quality Improvement in Primary Care

Ann Arbor, Michigan – Two veterans of the information technology (IT) industry today announced the launch of Cielo MedSolutions, a new healthcare IT company. Cielo is being formed to provide software and IT services to healthcare providers with the purpose of helping to improve quality, effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of medical care.

Cielo MedSolutions is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where cofounder and chief executive officer David J. Morin has established a successful track record both launching and managing new businesses as well as providing information technology leadership to large organizations. Morin served for several years as chief information officer of HomeTown Communications Network, where he oversaw IT for a geographically distributed enterprise with over 80 locations. While at HomeTown, he also founded and ran HomeTown Digital, the publishing enterprise's online business. In 2003, Morin led the launch of YesQuality, another online enterprise. Earlier in his career, he served as an engagement partner with the IT consulting firm Cambridge Technology Partners.

Cofounder James D. Price, Cielo's board chairman, is a veteran technology entrepreneur who has served as founding partner of venture consulting firm CompanyCrafters since 2000. Price teaches entrepreneurial studies at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, and brings to Cielo over two decades of technology business leadership experience. His background includes serving as founder and CEO of multiple technology ventures; he has helped guide startups not only through launch and rapid growth, but through successful merger and IPO exits for his companies' investors.

"We've created Cielo MedSolutions because we see a significant, unmet need in the healthcare arena," notes Morin. "The established healthcare software vendors are focused on the needs of hospitals and medical specialties; they've largely ignored the IT challenges facing the providers of primary care medicine. Primary care clinicians need IT solutions that are reasonably priced, follow their clinical workflow, and help with quality improvement. At Cielo, we're determined to address that need."
