How Cielo ClinicTM Supports PQRI Initiatives

Established in 2007 by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), PQRI (Physician Quality Reporting Initiative) establishes a financial incentive for eligible professionals to participate in a voluntary quality reporting program. Eligible healthcare professionals who successfully report PQRI quality measures may earn an incentive of up to 1.5% of total allowed charges for covered Medicare physician fee schedule services.

Our clinical quality management system, Cielo Clinic, supports the ambulatory care guidelines of PQRI. Through our rules engine, providers can prompt and remind on any of these measures at the point of care, plus generate call lists and letters to bring in patients due for services based on these guidelines.

Population reports will document compliance with these guidelines and, where a patient is out of compliance, why that is the case, providing a practice with actionable information to bring the patient into compliance. And, through its table-based rules engine, Cielo Clinic can manage PQRI guidelines ALONGSIDE other pay-for-performance and quality guidelines, allowing a practice to participate in an unlimited number of quality programs.

To ease reporting, Cielo Clinic is qualified by CMS to submit PQRI quality data on behalf of a provider. Through Cielo Clinic's registry, practices can have their PQRI quality data automatically uploaded to CMS, eliminating the need to use extra billing codes and cumbersome manual reporting.

Why Cielo Clinic for PQRI?

  • Support of point-of-care prompting and patient outreach for the ambulatory guidelines of PQRI.
  • Support of PQRI alongside other pay-for-performance and pay-for-reporting programs, allowing a practice to support all programs from one single source.
  • Reporting on compliance to PQRI measures and, for those patients not meeting the guidelines, information as to why they are not meeting the guideline to allow the practice to bring the patients into compliance.
  • Submission of quality data to CMS for required reporting, eliminating the need for practices to use extra billing codes and manual reporting.

As we work with PQRI uploading, we will update our blog with our experiences. Feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.
